A: Barbershop is four-part harmony in the male or female range where the melody (lead) is in the middle of the chord with a tenor line consistently above the lead. It is sung unaccompanied and dates back to the 1850's.

A: Vocal Revolution accepts men of good character who love to sing.

A: The Barbershop Harmony Society is the parent organization of Vocal Revolution.


Q: I thought "barbershop" was just quartets.

A: Though our style of music, specifically an American art form, started with quartets, there have been choruses singing barbershop since the early 1950's with the first chorus champion crowned in 1953.

Q: Where do Vocal Revolution members come from?

A: Members come from all over eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
